The Standard’s Best Videos of 2022

Eleven videos that tell the Bay Area's stories.

The San Francisco Standard video team documented the people, places and stories that defined 2022. We spoke to residents facing eviction from the nation’s largest nursing facility, students returning to classrooms carrying pandemic traumas, workers commuting on Muni during the earliest morning hours and a man who decorates his home each Halloween for the joy and elation of his neighbors. We bore witness to moments of great triumph and deep sadness.

We spent as much time in the office as we did out in the field, filming across the region's cities and on buses, cable cars and boats. We selected these eleven videos from more than 100 that we created in 2022 because they represent the best of what we do: They feature the Bay Area’s diverse, resilient and one-of-a-kind residents as well as our love of video as a unique storytelling medium.
